LIFELOCK ACTUALLY HAS DMARC Enforcement. THE BAD NEWS: Norton Doesn't.

Just when I could report some good CISO news, the cloud is almost silver. If you ever listen to Sean Hannity, one of his regular advertisers is LifeLock. They offer to protect you against identity theft. Finally, somebody in the industry has a good CISO, as LifeLock.com is protected against impersonation attacks with DMARC Enforcement enabled. Congrats, guys. Since phishing is one of the main avenues for identity theft, at least the company protecting you with a $1 million guarantee is themselves protected.

Now for the bad news. With LifeLock, you also get "Norton with LifeLock" for your personal computer. Sadly, Norton.com themselves are not protected. I can't fault the LifeLock CISO. It's the LifeLock marketing team, which succumbed to the Norton marketing team's giveaway. Given that 43% of the PC hijacking taking place bypasses Norton technology (see my MadCISO article here), my advice is simple: Get LifeLock and say thanks but no thanks to their free Norton suite.

Sincerely yours,
Mad Max
